Black opal or dark opal is highly prized, as the darker background provides the perfect contrast against the dazzling colours in this opal.
This wonderful example of a dark opal is bursting with shades of electric green and dark blue. The iridescence looks like butterfly wings, with a new pattern revealed from every angle.
The opal is claw set within a halo of bright sparkling white round diamonds. The art deco styled shoulders of the ring are encrusted with more diamonds which are all of superb quality. Precious durable platinum gives strength and beauty to the ring with the natural white of the metal complementing the white diamonds.
The opal measures approximately 11.5mm x 9.5mm. The head of the ring measures and the gem-set section measures 16.5mm x 14.5 width. The shoulders of the ring measure 8.5mm with the hoop tapering to 2.4mm at the back.
